Thai Poosam Festival Golden Chariot Procession in Sivakasi

More than thousand Murugan devotees witnessed the Thaipoosam Golden chariot festival of Sivakasi Sri Subramaniaswamy Temple, today night. Special prayers and worship were offered to Lord Murugan, since early morning. Sivakasi Town Police and Traffic Constables stepped up security measures in view of the golden car procession. The golden chariot glitters and the whole structure made of gold and covered with gold, donned with colorful and dazzling lights. Illuminating the quiet darkness at 07:00 p.m., the procession slowly moves ahead, stopping at numerous temples (Kadai Kovil, Agni Vinayakar Kovil) and key junction along the routes of four car streets of the town where pujas and archanais were performed for the benefit of the hundreds of Sivakasians lined up. Sivakasi Murugan devotees chanted Aroharaa relentlessly and drew the golden chariot on the four car streets. Majority of the Sivakasians captured the golden moments of golden chariot in their mobile phones and digital cameras. Sivakasi Palasarakku Vyaabaarigal Sangam made arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival. The festival is celebrated in a grand manner with Gold Chariot Procession in Sivakasi, on the full moon day of Thai every year.
