International Women-s Day Celebrated in Sivakasi

To mark the International Women-s Day, Mullai Mahalir Mandram organised a programme at PKSA Arumuga Nadar Road Colony, on 11th March 2013, Monday, at 05:00 p.m.. The function started with a formal prayer by Mrs.Sorna Puspham Raveendran, Mrs.Dhanalakshmi and Mrs.Rani Xavier. Mrs.Siva Sankari Kathiravan was the chief guest and Dr.V.K.Kathiravan, Chairman, Sivakasi Municipality, was the Guest of Honour for the function. Around 60 women participated in the event.

Mrs.Chandralekha, President, Mullai Mahalir Mandram welcomed the gathering. Introductory speech was given by Mrs.Sharmila and Mrs.Rajalakshmi. Ms.Joe, Ms.Sakthi and Mrs.Pon Sasti Malar delivered a wonderful speech on Women Achievers. A speech on Sivakasi town was delivered by Mr.Vaishal. In his address, Dr.V.K.Kathiravan credits his mother and wife for his success. He said Sivakasi Municipality to plant 30,000 trees along the street roads of Sivakasi town. And he asked the gathering to water trees, daily, to enhance the freshness and vitality of natural environment and enhancing awareness on conservation. And he pointed out the importance of cleanliness for the healthy environment of the town.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Mrs.Siva Sankari Kathiravan stressed on the importance of women empowerment and she pinpointed the problems faced by adolescents. She also advised women to make best use of the opportunity and lead a good life. And she appreciated Mullai Mahalir Mandram members. Chief Guests Dr.V.K.Kathiravan and Mrs.Siva Sankari were honoured with shawl and momento by Mr.Natarajan and Mrs.Chandralekha respectively. Chief Guest gave away prizes and awarded the members of Mullai Mahalir Mandram. On the occassion, Dr.A.Thanga Thirupathi, Principal, SBCP, was honoured by the Chief Guest, for receiving Excellence in Teaching Award. Mrs.Geetha delivered vote of thanks. Earlier, the streets newly tiled road opens after ribbon cutting by the Chairman of Sivakasi Municipality Dr.V.K.Kathiravan. Dinner was arranged for the gathering.
