Sivakasi celebrates Ayudha Puja

As a part of Navaratri Festival, Ayudha Puja, the traditional festival was celebrated across the Sivakasi town, today. All the temple shrines such as Mariamman Kovil, Mupidaaraiamman Kovil (Katchakaara Amman Kovil), Badrakaliamman Kovil, Sivan Kovil, Murugan Kovil and other shrines were colourfully decorated for the festival. People offered special prayers on the occasion. Ayudha Puja was celebrated at the place of work. Sivakasians worshipped the tools, vehicles, electrical appliances or instruments that are used in their occupation. Majority of the offices in Sivakasi were decorated and seen with Pakkavaazhai at their gate. All the implements that are part of one’s occupation and were cleaned properly, polished and decorated. They were smeared with Sandhanam and Kungumam. Special puja were performed. Prasadams such as sundal, pori and vilampazham were distributed to the family, friends, relatives and workers. Mr.B.Kannan, an industrialist said sivakasikasiweekly.com that, Ayudha Puja worship was an expression of gratitude to divine force for helping to earn, according to our belief. It was also a prayer and a request for successful execution of duties in the coming year, he added.
