Mary Matha Festival 2016

As a part of Navanaal Mary Matha Festival 2016, procession of Mary Matha Idol has been taken out in Sivakasi, on 6th February 2016, Saturday. The way leading to the shrine wore a festive look. The balloon, toy sellers and vendors arranged stalls on either side of the road near Indian Bakery. Sivakasi Catholic church Bishop started the festival with a Holy Mass at around 6:30 p.m.. Devotees in large numbers participated in the festival and prayed for their well-being. Large numbers of pilgrims gathered on the Shrine. Special prayers were performed. The Church Chariot was decorated with attractive colourful lights. Procession began at 10:00 p.m.. Thousands of devotees witnessed the procession that takes place at the four streets of Sivakasi. Church volunteers and Sivakasi Catholic Commercialists Association members also helped in regulating the devotees. The Navanaal function concluded with Kodi Irakkam function, on 7th February 2016, Sunday.
