Clay lamps starts arriving ahead of Karthigai Festival

As Karthigal Festival is just three days away, households in Sivakasi town are busy shopping for dainty clay pots. Different models of lamps made of clay are on display by the roadside vendors and hawkers, near Sivan Kovil, Mariamman Kovil and NRKR Road. A hawker near Sivakasi Sivan Kovil said sivakasiweekly.com that, the price of the clay lamps (agal vilakku) ranges from Rs.10/- to Rs.120/-. This Karthigai season, Sivakasi residents can choose from over 50 varieties of clay lamps (agal vilakku) to decorate their homes. He expected that the sales will be doubled by tomorrow, as the clay lamps which are a must for Karthigai Deepam.
