PrintWeek India Awards 2018: Lovely Offset Printers is the Post-Press Company of the Year

The Sivakasi firm picked up the Award during the 10th edition of the Awards held in Mumbai on 29 November 2018.

The numbers for this Sivakasi-based factory is staggering. In addition to the seven wind turbines with a capacity of 2000KW and a solar plant, the 500 employees at Lovely churn out 1,00,00,000 impressions per month and some more on the packaging front. As one can imagine, all this requires a lot of post-press clout.

According to our auditors, the profit before tax has increased by 37.29% being the highest in the category. In addition, Lovely’s current ratio for 2017-18 is 2.52.

The masters of books and stationery and now packaging, K Selvakumar, director at Lovely Offset says, “We have very innovative stationery products. Products like elastic closures and back-pocket in our premium notebooks make the Lovely brand, unique.”

Innovation is the mantra among the siblings and now the third generation of the Lovely family. The other best practice which is implemented across the shopfloor is cleanliness. Lovely has a clear policy in the post-press areas where in addition to producing multiple formats of books for the export market, it proposes to create a Miyawaki forest inside its campus by 2020.

From its humble beginning in 1961 to its 35-acre plant which is located 80 kms from Tuticorin port, the factory is well equipped on the post-press front with perfect binders and saddle-stitchers and section sewing plus case-makers and edge gilding as well as a fleet of specialised machines. In addition, there is a raft of packaging machines for die-cutting, fold-gluing and foil stamping.
Kudos to Lovely for the Award, which they had bagged, once earlier, in 2016.
