Pressman Academy conducts 12 themed workshops

Chennai-based Pressman Academy for Print Education Resource (PAPER) – the educational vertical of Pressman Solutions conducted 12 workshops in the last half of 2018. Spread across the country, topic for the seminars ranged from full-day workshop on pressroom standardisation at Haridwar and New Delhi, process control workshop at multiple locations in Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Sivakasi, basics of UV offset printing at Silvassa and Vasai.

“We have received a great response for our exclusive, customised, 100% academic and professional pieces of training for the Industry. From August to December 2018, Pressman organised 12 workshops and seminars across the country (from Himachal Pradesh to Tamil Nadu). In which five workshops were done in North (Baddi, Haridwar, New Delhi), five workshops in West region (Lower Parel, Vasai, Nerul, Silvassa, Pune) and two in South (Chennai and Sivakasi). With the target of 100 workshops for 2019, we are working to chart out the annual training calendar,” said K Panthala Selvan of Pressman Solutions.

The process control workshops titled Ignite was only meant for operators and QC teams of printing units which covered topics like rollers settings, hardness, roller diameter, raw water requirements for printing, font, mixing ratio, pH, conductivity, temperature, IPA and IPA substitutes, different types of fonts, pressure, packing calculation and type of packing to be used, blanket, lights required for colour viewing, importance of climate in pressroom, introduction to calibration, maintenance of machines, material testing requirements. The workshop also covered tools to check water, IPA, roller hardness, climate, viscosity, temperature, microscope, plate dot reader, spectrophotometer and the necessary equipment were kept and operators tried their hands on the tools too.

The speakers for the basics of UV offset printing were Mohan (Suba Solutions), Pravin of Toyo Inks, Milind kale from TechNova and Dilip Davda of Rukson Packaging.

The venue for the events were printing institutions SIES (Nerul), SIGA Polytechnic ( Chennai) and Arasan Ganesan Polytechnic (Sivakasi) while the Silvassa event was hosted by the centre for training at Akar.
