03-02-2013 3rd February 2013 Mary Matha Festival - Procession In connection with the Navanaal Mary Matha Festival, procession has been taken out in Sivakasi, today. Sivakasi Catholic church Bishop, Bishop Francis Xavier and Bishop D.Gnana Prakasam started the festival at around 6:30 p.m.. The third day of the Nava Naal Festival started with a Holy Mass. Large numbers of pilgrims gathered on the Velanganni Matha Higher Secondary school premises. The devotees could fulfill their wishes by offering prayers to Mary Matha. The devotees were seen chanting the names of Mary Matha and Jesus and offering vows. Priests offered holy communion to all the devotees who attended the Sivakasi Mary Matha Festival. Thousands of devotees participated in the procession that takes place from Velankanni Matha Higher Secondary School to Shrine. Traffic restrictions and diversions were imposed near Mariamman Temple Junctions and Indian Bakery for the convenience of the pilgrims. Sivakasi Municipality and Police department officials made arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Mary Matha Utsav Procession. |
