Record rain cause power outage in Sivakasi

Heavy rains on 29th August 2013, Thursday, caused flooding and scattered power outages across Sivakasi town. The record rain for 12cms yesterday knocked out the power at Sivakasi town from 05:20 p.m. to 05:30 a.m.. The rain started arriving ahead of the peek hour, which caused severe flooding in major roads and power outage in Sivakasi town. Sivakasi pedestrians sought shelter where they could as they waited out the weather. Sivakasians were struggling to find their destination way, due to power outage.

The rain poured so hard at yesterday evening and so fast that some two wheelers especially mopeds were left stuck in the water, needing to be rescued. For drivers and commuters, the voyage home was just as problematic. The rain made it hard to see, while the pools of water made it hard to drive and in some cases Sivakasi motorists were unable to move. An hour after the rain has gone, Sivakasi four car street and other key junctions wore a deserted look. Offices, industries and other commercial establishments were closed. Sivakasi town were in the dark about 12 hours of power outage. Sivakasians stay awake throughout yesterday night to battling against mosquito with power outage. The record rain and power outage affected the routine life of Sivakasians in all the way.
