Thousands witnessed Thiruvathirai Festival

Thousands of devotees witnessed Thiruvathirai Festival at Sivakasi, today. Sevaral houses in Sivakasi was decorated with radham kolams. Roadside shops such as Panangilangu, Karumbhu, balloon, toys, idols of gods, electric goods, flowers shops were placed in the key junctions of the town. Special rituals were held at the temple in the morning in connection with the festival. The idol of Sivakasi Sivan Kovil Natarajar, Sivakasi Subramaniasamy Kovil Natarajar and Sivakasi Kadai Kovil Amman and Kamatchi Amman were carried out for procession, in the four car streets of Sivakasi, at morning. The procession of a caparisoned elephants in front of the Radhams added to the festive spirit.

Sivakasians attended the festival with their family. The three big temple car were fully decorated with Manjal Sevandhi Poo. Children in Sivakasi were wowed by seeing the three big rathas in the bazar. Namam has been put for all the devotees. Most of the Sivakasi girls and women have Sevandhi Poo on their head. Due to Thiruvathirai festival there is hike in the price of all the flowers. After worshipping all the Gods, Sivakasians bought Panangilangu and Karumbhu. 10 piece of Panangilangu price ranges from Rs.30- to Rs.35/- and Karumbu Rs.40/- per sugarcane. For Thiruvathirai Festival, Kali were prepared in most of the houses in Sivakasi and some observed fasting. Thiruvathirai Festival entertained all age groups, in Sivakasi.
