As Pongal Festival is nearing shops in Sivakasi start concentrating on the sale of Pongal Festival related articles such as decorating materials and greeting cards. A visit to some of the gift shops in Sivakasi Bazar showed actor & actress greeting cards, tiny ones to large ones, from simple greetings to elaborate ones in English and in Tamil Languages. Pongal Greeting Card Price Ranges from Rs.5/- to Rs.50/-, in Sivakasi. During Festival Season, writing cards is a traditional practice. But in the modern era of emails and SMS, the charm of greeting cards has plummeted. Very few people who send cards on occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. And the market for greeting cards has been flat over the last few years.
