Drive to check rainwater harvesting systems in Sivakasi

Shortage of water is a common problem in Sivakasi town. Rainwater harvesting is a simple and economical process through which the common man can save water. Sivakasi Municipality Chairman Dr.V.K.Kathiravan has appealed to the Sivakasi people to create rainwater harvesting structures in their houses. Sivakasi Municipality has taken up a month long special survey on proper functioning of the rainwater harvesting structures set up on domestic and commercial campus in Sivakasi town. The survey by Sivakasi Municipality will insist on setting up rainwater harvesting structures at new buildings under construction or the ones constructed in the past few years without the Rain Harvesting System. The owners of the property without Rain Harvesting System are being persuaded to set up the Rain Water Harvesting System immediately. Sivakasi Municipality will take necessary actions to those who violating the mandatory / compulsory installation of Rain Water Harvesting Systems in their premises.
