01-11-2015 1st November 2015 - The Hindu Officials conduct raids to unearth Chinese crackers The Customs and Preventive Commissionerate authorities on a tip-off that Chinese made firecrackers were illegally imported into the country, conducted raids at different places across the State on Thursday. The authorities could not detect any Chinese made crackers, except for firecrackers, which had labels in Chinese language, in Vizianagaram. “Such stocks were detained for further investigation and during earlier raids, similar Chinese brands were found in Duvva in West Godavari district, which have been referred to Sivakasi for authentication,” said S.K.Rahman, Commissioner of Customs and Preventive, A.P. according to a press release. Chinese firecrackers should not be bought or used as they were hazardous, explode spontaneously and were made using cheap chemicals. In case any vendors or godowns housed such stocks, people could inform the same to Customs and Preventive Commissionerate authorities over phone numbers: 98498-48060, 98855-66233 and 98666-32834, Mr. Rahman said. |
