‘Choose a career that brings joy’

As many as 911 students received their degree certificates at the Graduation Day of Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi, on Saturday. A.Tenzing, Correspondent, presided over the function. Rishikesh Narayanan, Associate Professor, Molecular Biophysics Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, the chief guest, advised the graduates to choose a career that would bring joy and fulfilment. He urged them to take heed to their calling, carve a niche, and most importantly be excited and happy about your job.

“The focus should be on getting things right, irrespective of how much additional work or effort it might take. To succeed in any field, one needs a lot of hard work, and a lot more of perseverance,” he said. He added that social media had brought in it wake instant gratification but it would not reflect reality. An alumni of the college, he reminisced about his alma mater. He said one could study in institutions in one’s life, but the memories of the first college were always strong.
