Chithirai Pongal Celebrated

Chithirai Pongal Festival was celebrated in Sivakasi Arulmighu Sri Badrakaliamman Thirukovil, today. Due to Corona restrictions and pandemic there was no Chithirai Pongal celebration on 2020 and the town celebrated lite version of chithirai pongal on 2021. The way leading to the temple wore a festive look. The balloon, toy sellers and vendors arranged stalls on either side of the road near Badrakaliamman Kovil. The temple has been decked up with festoons, flowers, lights and banners for the Chithirai Pongal Festival. As kumbabhisegam is going to be held at the temple, the renovation works are in full swing, since January 2022. Due to this the temple's rajagopuram is covered for the last 2 months. The idol of Goddess Badrakaliamman and Kodimaram were placed near Pongal and Vilakku podum area. All the deities and kopurams were removed and renovation work of teppakulam also taken place. Pragaram areas were restricted. Hundreds of devotees thronged the temple to offer worship. Sivakasians prepared and offered pongal for Badrakaliamman. Sivakasi Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai arranged the festival in a grand and in an systematic manner. The temple and police administration have made special arrangements to conduct the festival in a smooth manner. Paadha Kanikai, muthu poduthal were offered by the devotees, for last week. Some devotees carried out Aayiramkan Paanai. Majority of Sivakasians, in their home prepared traditional Kathirikaai and Murungaikaai Puli Kulambu.
