10-11-2024 - Mukesh Babu Sasti Festival held at Sivakasi Kandha Sasti festival began on 2nd November 2024, Saturday and ended on 8th November 2024, Friday. Sivakasi Murugan temple was decorated with colourful lights and thorans.On 7th November 2024, Friday, hundreds of pilgrims witnessed Soorasamhaaram, conducted as part of the Kandha Sasti festival at the Sivan Kovil at Sivakasi. The Soorasamhaaram began at around 04:00 p.m., with the idol of Lord Murugan and those of Sooran were taken out in a procession from Sivan Kovil to the four car streets of Sivakasi, where the ritual was held. With the devotees raising the slogan Kandhanukku Arohara, Muruganukku Arohara Lord Muruga killed Sooran. Later Murugan Kovil Soorasamharam held at the same venue. The devotees offered a series of pujas after Soorasamhaaram. Some Sivakasians observed fast for the last six days and took food after seeing the Soorasamhaaram, as a symbol of good winning over the evil. Prasadhams were distributed. Kandha Sasti Festival ended with Thirukalyanam vaibhav held on 8th November 2024, Friday, at Murugan Koyil, Sivakasi. Sivakasi Solai Colony Valampuri Vinayakar Koyil also organised Soorasamharam and Thirukkalyanam vaibhavam. Hundreds of pilgrims witnessed the festival. |
